First-Year Computer Science Students
Dear First-Year Computer Science Student,
The faculty of Computer Science warmly welcomes you into our program. The learning environment in a university setting is quite different from that you experienced in your high school. The biggest difference is that you are independent and fully responsible to decide how to spend your time wisely. Therefore, your academic planning is extremely important for your success in the university. General advising information can be obtained from the College of Science and Technology Advising Center (Humphreys 223). Keep in mind, your department advisor is the only authoritative and reliable resources for any specific academic planning with respect to the CS program. Particularly, as a first-year computer science student, you should always consult your department advisor for any program specific questions such as course selection, four-year plan, classroom experience, etc. The department advisor list is available at the department office in WCM 222.
