Center for Teaching and Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning’s (CTL) role of promoting academic excellence at UCM is achieved through several avenues of support. The CTL offers many new development opportunities for faculty and administrators geared toward pedagogical advancement and educational innovation, as well as needed information and training on policies and regulations that affect them on a daily basis.
The CTL works closely with the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) committee to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning at UCM through activities such as Faculty Research Day each year, in which UCM faculty can be recognized for their achievements and research within their various disciplines.
The Center for Teaching and Learning also oversees the Service Learning program on campus which allows students to learn and develop through active participation of community needs.
In addition, the range of grant opportunities available to faculty through CTL are numerous. Faculty have the opportunity to apply for funding for things such as travel to conferences, new multimedia equipment for classrooms, release time for research projects, and development of online courses, to name a few. A complete list of CTL grant forms can be found at www.ucmo.edu/itiforms.With the aid of Academic Media Services, CentralNet, Technical Projects, and Multimedia Classroom Engineering Services, the Center for Teaching and Learning can help faculty integrate sound teaching practices with the most current instructional professional technology. The CTL office is located in JCKL 3240 and can be reached by calling the main ITI office at 660-543-8677 or via email at ctl@ucmo.edu.
