Online Course Development
General Education Online Course Development
The Center for Teaching and Learning awards and manages grants to assist with the development of online courses. Initially, grants were awarded for the development of individual courses but a more focused approach has since allowed two complete graduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Industrial Management.
General Education Online Project
The current focus is on developing enough General Education courses to allow a student to complete the majority of them completely online. This focus will allow Central Missouri to be more competitive with community colleges, with recruiting international students, and with the many other universities offering online courses. Several academic departments have the majority of their upper level courses online and need the General Education also to be offered online so their distance learning students can complete their degrees.
Request for Funding Proposals
Central Missouri faculty interested in developing their General Education course for completely online delivery should contact their department chair about completing a request for funding proposal.
Determining Course Eligibility and Payment Schedule
The request for funding (Intellectual Property Agreement) must be submitted prior to any development or delivery of the proposed course. Courses not previously offered in the online modality may be determined eligible. Courses offered online to students while in the development process will not be considered eligible for funding. Previously developed courses are ineligible for funding. Faculty developers are paid in three equal payments: when the department chair and the Assistant Provost for Information Technology and Instruction approve the development of the online course; when the online course has been developed to the satisfaction of the department chair; and when the course is placed on the instructional schedule for delivery.
