CASTL Committee
The Center for Teaching and Learning works with the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning committee to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning at Central Missouri through discussions, workshops, and providing media such as the subscription to the "Teaching Professor" newsletter.
Definition
Through input provided by the Central Missouri faculty and administration, a definition of scholarship of teaching and learning was developed and approved by the faculty senate:
The scholarship of teaching and learning at Central mirrors the intellectual endeavors we practice in our academic research and creative activities. This dynamic process may involve reflecting, investigating, collecting data, analyzing, applying, and reporting results. This process will enhance student learning through more effective teaching.
