A 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Dr. Anthony Rizzi enjoyed a second career as a Central faculty member. The professor emeritus of industrial management has retired after 20 years of service.
Dr. Rizzi joined the university in 1979 as an associate professor and coordinator of industrial management. Over the years, he took great pride in helping to develop the university’s industrial management program so that students would be well prepared to enter the professional workplace.
Although he spent a lot of time in the classroom, Dr. Rizzi found opportunities to assist in many other endeavors that benefitted the university and its students. He served on numerous committees dealing with areas such as international affairs, college curriculum, merit pay, extended campus, and parking, just to name a few.
In retirement, he plans to remain active writing technical books in areas such as operations research, decision processes, operations management, quality control and leadership.
Dr. Rizzi earned his bachelor’s degree in math and master’s degree in applied math and analysis at the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg. He completed his doctorate at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.
Dr. Rizzi and his wife, Ann, have eight children: Anthony, Maria, Valerie, Domenic, Cabrina, Raymond, Anna Mary and Lorenzo.
