International Center Staff
Location Ward Edwards 1200 A vital regional source of international culture, the university’s International Center provides residents the opportunity to learn about the lives and cultures of students from countries throughout the world. Special programs introduce Missouri families to international students, encourage friendships and broaden knowledge of other cultures. Ward Edwards is the home of the International Center, which serves the more than 600 international students for UCM. International students at Central represent over 50 different countries around the world, bringing diversity to the campus community and to Warrensburg. The International Center processes all international student applications, helps new international students settle into academic life in Warrensburg, provides intensive English instruction, counsels students about immigration issues, and advises UCM students who wish to study abroad. We would like to encourage everyone to get involved with international students. The International Student Organization (ISO) organizes many social activities every semester. We also have friendship programs in which students or families can get to know an international student personally. Joy Stevenson - Director of International Center
Dr. Stevenson is the Director over all four areas of the International Center: Study Abroad, International Admissions, International Student and Scholar Services, and the English Language Center. She also serves as the senior designated immigration specialist on campus. She is the campus coordinator for Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars and is actively involved in many other campus committees and organizations. stevenson@ucmo.edu |

Sujamanas Badger - Fiscal Manager Sujamanas manages all departmental budgets for the four divisions within the International Center. She processes online application payments and creates financial data reports for each area.. badger@ucmo.edu |

Dr. Phil Hull - Director of International Programs Phil oversees International Programs at UCM, which encompasses opportunities in over sixty countries and at more than two hundred fifty international institutions. He helps students through the study abroad process who are interested in studying overseas. He also works with incoming exchange students from UCM’s 30+ partner institutions. He helps promote international programs, assists faculty interested in study tours and teaching abroad. hull@ucmo.edu |

Carla Prael - Coordinator of Study Abroad Carla guides students through the study abroad process to over sixty countries and more than two hundred fifty international institutions. She helps promote international programs, researches study abroad and internship opportunities, and works with students to plan their programs providing student services to participants throughout the study abroad process. Charles Petentler - Director of International Admissions Charles directs the international undergraduate admission process and works in cooperation with academic departments in securing graduate admission decisions. He evaluates international academic credentials, oversees the development of recruitment/admission publications, and manages the communication flow with all prospective and admitted international students. petentler@ucmo.edu |

George Dordoni - Assistant Director, International Admissions George works with international undergraduate (Bachelor degree-seeking and exchange) students for admission to UCM. He evaluates student transcripts, corresponds with prospective and newly-admitted students, and issues the necessary documents to help students obtain appropriate visas. gdordoni@ucmo.edu |

Trisha Boyd - Admissions Coordinator, International Admissions Trisha is the initial student contact for international admissions. She processes all incoming admission applications, prepares appropriate immigration related documents, responds to student inquiries concerning their admission status, and mails admission decision letters and essential paperwork to students after an admission decision has been rendered. Heather Hoel - Director of International Student and Scholar Services Heather oversees all services and programming for international students and scholars and serves as an advisor concerning legal, cultural, academic, and personal concerns. She leads international student orientations, and acts as staff sponsor of the International Student Organization. Rachel Herman - Co-Director, English Language Center Rachel directs the English Language Center and the Intensive English Program. She actively recruits for the department and develops the promotional materials. She also advises students about program policies and procedures to help them prepare for their academic programs at the university. Valerie Heming - Co-Director, English Language Center Valerie directs the English Language Center and the Intensive English Program. Plus, she creates and directs short term programs for the English Language Center. She advises students about program policies and procedures and helps them prepare for their academic programs at the university. She is responsible for recruitment and promotion for the department.
