Dr. Julie Clawson, Professor of nursing and Chair of the Nursing Department, has been a member of Central Missouri's faculty since 1985.

Julie teaches in the undergraduate, RN-BSN, and graduate nursing programs. She also supervises undergraduate and graduate research.
Dr. Clawson has a keen interest in facilitating interdisciplinary undergraduate research having worked as co-director of the Lancy Grant, the first interdisciplinary undergraduate research grant at Central Missouri. She has served as mentor to honors students and graduate research project and thesis students. Her own research interests include higher education leadership, nursing education, family nursing, rural health and nursing care of the elderly. Her most recent publications include:

Dr. Clawson is active in professional and community nursing activities including the Missouri Nurses Association (MONA), American Nurses Association (ANA), Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing.
Dr. Clawson is actively involved with the University Academic Council at the university level. She serves on committees in the nursing department such as the Graduate Coordination Committee (GCC), Admission and Progression Committee, and Promotion and Tenure. Julie volunteers for a variety of community health education events and activities.
