2015 Freshmen Leadership Retreat Student Facilitator
What is the IMPACT Freshman Leadership Retreat?
The IMPACT Freshman Leadership Retreat is an opportunity for incoming UCM freshmen to learn more about leadership, the pride and traditions of UCM, and come together as an incoming class.
What is the role of a Student Facilitator?
As a facilitator at the IMPACT Freshman Leadership Retreat you will work with another Student Facilitator and be directly responsible for a small group of 10-15 incoming UCM freshmen during the retreat. Facilitators will lead students through small group activities and assist the IMPACT staff during large group sessions. Facilitators need to display a high level of energy and enthusiasm towards UCM at all times and portray UCM in a positive light.
What are the expectations of being a Student Facilitator?
As a facilitator, you should set an example, be a role model, be positive and outgoing, be flexible, participate in activities with students, and follow the schedule and instructions given to you. You will help ease the transition from high school to college for incoming students, build friendships with new students, provide information about how to get involved on campus and the services and resources available and help students learn more about themselves and others by debriefing activities and engaging in discussions. In addition, facilitators are expected to maintain a minumum GPA of 2.5.
What are the required time commitments?
Student Facilitators are required to attend the following events:
- Monthly training meetings to prepare for the IMPACT
- Student Facilitator Training Session
- IMPACT Freshman Leadership Retreat
