Creating a WiFi Connection

Connecting with Windows 7 & Windows 8

  1. Click on the Network Icon in the System Tray
  2. Click on UCM-WiFi-Secured
  3. Check box that says Connect Automatically
  4. Click on Connect
  5. Enter your UCM Network ID in the User Name field
  6. Enter your UCM Network Password in the Password field
  7. Click on OK
  8. Your machine will show that it is trying to connect. An error may pop up regarding server identity. Click on Connect. This error is related to credentials regarding security certificates. It is safe to click Connect to bypass this message.

Connecting with Windows Vista

  1. Go to Start Menu and click on Control Panel
  2. Select Network and Internet
  3. Select Network and Sharing Center
  4. Select Manage Wireless Network
  5. Select the Add button to create a new connection
  6. Highlight the UCM connection (or the new connection you created in step 5)
  7. Click Adapter properties
  8. Under the Networking tab, uncheck File and print sharing
  9. Click OK
  10. Click Additional information is required to connect to UCM-WiFi-Secured (balloon tip)
  11. Enter your Network ID and Password
  12. Close all dialog boxes and launch your internet browser

Connecting with Windows XP

  1. Go to Start Menu -- Settings -- Network Connections
  2. Right click on Wireless Network Connection
  3. Select View Available Wireless Networks
  4. Click on Change advanced settings
  5. Click Wireless Networks (tab)
  6. Click Add
  7. Enter UCM-WiFi-Secured in the Network name (SSID) field
  8. Select WPA2 from the Network Authentication list
  9. Select AES from the Data encryption list
  10. Click Authentication (tab)
  11. Select Protected EAP (PEAP) from the EAP type list
  12. Click Properties
  13. Check Validate server certificate
  14. Check all VeriSign Trust Network boxes under Trusted Root Certificate Authorities
  15. Check Do not prompt user to authorize new servers or trusted certification authorities
  16. Select Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) from the Select Authentication Method list
  17. Click Configure
  18. Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)
  19. Click on the Wireless Network Connection balloon tip
  20. Enter your UCM Network ID in the User name field (If there is no Logon domain field, your user name needs to be entered as UCMO/NetworkID)
  21. Enter your UCM Network Password in the Password field
  22. Enter UCMO in the Logon domain field (If this field is missing, refer to step 20)
  23. Click OK
