Instructor in Psychology
Dana attended CMSU (UCM) graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Education-Life, Certification in English (K-12) and Mathematics (K-12). She then worked for several years and finally returned to CMSU to earn a Master’s Degree in Psychology/Guidance/Counseling. Dana also obtained a Life Certification K-12 in Counseling and Guidance. Additional education included earning a Psychological Examiner’s Certification (K-12) and working in the fields of Professional Development, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology and Creative Writing. She also attended the University of Missouri.
Dana enjoyed teaching for Park University and State Fair Community College on a part-time basis while devoting thirty years to the public schools of Missouri, twenty of those years in the Warrensburg Public School district retiring as the senior level counselor for Warrensburg High School.
She was honored to be selected by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to be one of the original twenty-five people trained to implement the Vocational Resource Educator Model. She was named Missouri’s Vocational Resource Educator of the Year in 1987 and was the Professional Development School Director for UCM for five years.
Dana has presented workshops at the National Association of Professional Development Schools Conference and worked on the committee to develop the criteria necessary for the Association of Professional Development Schools (later to be recognized as a national professional organization). Upon national acceptance of the organization she became a charter member. Courses that Dana really enjoys teaching are General Psychology and Life-Span Development. Personal interests include reading, being active in her church, PEO membership, and taking care of her cats and dog.
