Non-Missouri Resident Assistance

For Freshmen Entering UCM Fall 2013

In addition to the Red & Black Scholarship, non-Missouri residents who are regularly-admitted may qualify for ONE of the following.

NON-RESIDENT SCHOLAR AWARD

Value: Covers 25%, 50% or 100% of non-resident fees. Percentage is based on cumulative high school GPA (6th or 7th semester), and ACT composite score achieved on or before the February 2013 national test (or SAT score earned on or before the January 2013 national test). The UCM Scholarship Eligibility Calculator may be used to estimate the value.

Eligibility: To be eligible, students must meet the following criteria:

• Incoming freshman student
  
  
• Non-resident of Missouri

• Admitted to UCM by the December 1, 2012 priority consideration deadline as a regularly-admitted freshman (not conditionally-admitted). Non-Resident Scholar Awards are limited in number. If scholarship funds are still available to award after December 1, 2012, qualifying students will be awarded on a first-come basis (based on date admitted to UCM) until the scholarship funds are depleted.

Recipients of the Non-Resident Scholar Award may not also receive the Kansas Grant, Second Generation Grant, Non-Resident Fee Credit, Midwest Student Exchange Program, non-resident fee portion of the UCM Educational Development Program, or other programs that cover all or partial non-resident fees.

To Apply: Submit the UCM Application for Admission, high school transcript, ACT composite score, and application for admission fee. No other application is necessary for the Non-Resident Scholar Award. Completing the application for admission process prior to December 1, 2012 is strongly encouraged. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail at their home address. Full non-resident fee charges and an amount equal to 25%, 50% or 100% will both appear on the UCM accounts of Non-Resident Scholar Award recipients.

Renewability: The Non-Resident Scholar Award may be received for a maximum of eight (8) semesters of undergraduate study provided the recipient:

• Maintains status as a full-time UCM undergraduate student,
  
  
• Maintains legal residence status as a non-Missouri resident,
  
  
• Successfully completes a total of 24 or more UCM undergraduate credit hours during the first two semesters of full-time attendance at UCM, and successfully completes at least 12 undergraduate credit hours at UCM each semester thereafter; and

• Achieves a minimum cumulative UCM grade-point average of 3.25 upon completion of the second semester as a full-time student at UCM (and each semester thereafter).

SECOND GENERATION GRANT

Value: 100% of non-resident fees

Eligibility: To be eligible, a student must meet the following criteria:

• Incoming freshman student

• Non-resident of Missouri

• Child/grandchild or step-child/step-grandchild of an individual who earned a degree (bachelors, masters, education specialist, or cooperative doctorate) from University of Central Missouri

• Admitted to UCM by the December 1, 2012 priority consideration deadline as a regularly-admitted freshman (not conditionally-admitted). Second Generation Grants are limited in number. If scholarship funds are still available to award after December 1, 2012, qualifying students will be awarded on a first-come basis (based on date admitted to UCM) until the scholarship funds are depleted.

Recipients of the Second Generation Grant may not also receive the Kansas Grant, Non-Resident Fee Credit, Midwest Student Exchange Program, Non-Resident Scholar Award, non-resident fee portion of the UCM Educational Development Program, or other programs that cover all or partial non-resident fees.

KANSAS GRANT

Value: 100% of non-resident fees

Eligibility: Regularly-admitted undergraduate students whose permanent legal residence is located in one of the following Kansas counties: Atchison, Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford, Doniphan, Douglas, Geary, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee or Wyandotte.

The Kansas Grant is not initially available to undergraduate students who are conditionally-admitted or admitted on academic probation.  These students may receive the Kansas Grant in the future provided they have earned a minimum of 24 hours at UCM during the previous 12 months and their UCM cumulative grade-point average is at least 2.0.

Recipients of the Kansas Grant may not also receive the Second Generation Grant, Non-Resident Fee Credit, Midwest Student Exchange Program, Non-Resident Scholar Award, non-resident fee portion of the UCM Educational Development Program, or other programs that cover all or partial non-resident fees.

To Apply: Incoming freshmen should submit the UCM Application for Admission (indicating  county and state of legal residence), high school transcript, ACT composite score, and application for admission fee. No other application is necessary for the Kansas Grant. Non-resident fees and a credit equal to the non-resident fees will both appear on the UCM accounts of Kansas Grant recipients.

Renewability: Automatically renewed for students who maintain legal residence in one of the following Kansas counties: Atchison, Bourbon, Cherokee, Crawford, Doniphan, Douglas, Geary, Johnson, Leavenworth, Linn, Miami, Pottawatomie, Riley, Shawnee or Wyandotte and are not recipients of the Second Generation Grant, Non-Resident Fee Credit, Midwest Student Exchange Program, Non-Resident Scholar Award, non-resident fee portion of the UCM Educational Development Program, or other programs that cover all or partial non-resident fees.
