Research Title: “Monoids Defined by the Fibonacci Sequence ”
My involvement in Undergraduate Research at UCM has strengthened my skills as a mathematician and better prepared me for graduate school. I have presented my mathematical findings at 6 different national and regional conferences. Additionally, I have presented my research twice at the UCM Scholars Symposium, an annual event that showcases undergraduate research. The titles of these presentations were "Monoids Defined by the Fibonacci Sequence" and "Diophantine Monoids Defined by Second-Order Recurrence Relation." I have been doing research in mathematics since my sophomore year of college. I have actually used my research as a spring board for my Honors Project, and I will be presenting aspects of this research at the national MAA conference held in Boston. Undergraduate Research has not only helped me to fund projects, but it has also prepared me for a post-graduate career in mathematics.
