Terrell D. Brown, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the College of Education at the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Before joining UCM, he taught middle and high school social studies for 11 years and was recognized as a Building Teacher of the Year. He earned degrees from Los Angeles City College, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Langston University, and the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Brown previously taught Advanced Placement United States History and currently serves as an Advanced Placement United States History Reader. At UCM, he teaches courses in social studies education, educational foundations, diversity, and differentiated instruction. His research focuses on urban education, antiracist approaches to teacher preparation, educational policy, curriculum, pedagogy, instructional practices, and formative assessment. Dr. Brown has also provided national leadership through the Association of Teacher Educators, serving on its Board of Directors, the Commission on Teacher Educator Standards, and as Co-Chair of the 2026 Annual Conference.
