Communication Disorders and Social Work
Mrs. Brenda Dooley
Brenda Dooley joined the team as Support Coordinator for the Department February 1, 2001. Born and raised in Warrensburg, she has a lifetime of exposure and affiliation to Central and the community, including receiving her Bachelor's degree from Central. She feels strongly that you only get out of any endeavor (job, activity, organization, etc.) what you are willing to put into it.
Before joining Central, Brenda spent 15 years as a travel agent, so really enjoys providing service to the public. Working in an academic department allows her to 'mother' all the students who come through the program. Since merging with the Social Work program, her duties have shifted to primarily providing adminstrative support for the Welch-Schmidt Center for Communication Disorders. Bren said "It's a never-ending job, but incredibly fulfilling when we (the program) graduate these students and send them out with endless opportunities and possibilities".
Bren spends a lot of time as a supportive mom of two sons (one of which is now a UCM alumni, and the other is a UCM sophomore), wife and farm girl. She and husband Rick are growing a cattle herd on their 60 acres, and Bren LOVES the country life. She also loves to cook and work in the yard and garden. When time permits, a good mystery novel is a grand companion.
