Becoming a Public Relations major at UCM is a simple process.

  1. Be admitted to UCM:
    • Take the ACT (preferred) or SAT.
    • Send your scores to UCM using code 2272 (ACT) or 6090 (SAT).
    • Submit the UCM admissions application with the $30 nonrefundable application fee at
    • Send your high school and/or college transcripts to:
      Office of Admissions

      Warrensburg, MO 64093

  2. Accumulate 30 university credits, and pass COMM 1100 Intro to Communication with at a "C" grade or better.
  3. Apply to the Department of Communication. Complete the form through the section in which you indicate that you have 30 or more hours and have completed COMM 1100. This will make you a pre-PR major; you will have an opportunity to apply for full admission to the PR program after completing the PR pre-requisites.
  4. Successfully complete the PR program gateway courses: COMM 2620 - Intro to Public Relations, COMM 2625 - Writing and Editing for Public Relations, and COMM 3620 - Strategic Planning for Public Relations.*
  5. Apply to the Public Relations Program. You will be a fully admitted PR major.

* The Department of Communication general education requirements are also necessary for full admission to the major. See your undergraduate catalog.
