Musical Theatre Audition Information

BFA Musical Theatre Audition Requirements

Audition Date: Saturday, February 7, 2015 - 12-5 pm Highlander Theatre

Students should prepare the following materials:

  • An upbeat-tempo musical comedy number—16 bars
  • A musical ballad—16 bars
  • Both songs should be memorized and accompanied by sheet music
  • An accompanist will be provided
  • Prepare a 1-2 minute memorized monologue from contemporary theatre material
  • Dance: You will be asked to learn a dance combination and present it with the group

What to Bring:

  • Bring a resume detailing your training and production experience
  • If you have tap dancing experience, please bring your tap shoes
  • For your songs and monologue you should wear appropriate audition attire
  • For the dance audition you will have the opportunity to change into dance attire. Please wear jazz or character shoes.

Students: In addition to your audition, you will have an interview with the Musical Theatre Faculty. This will be an opportunity to share your interest and learn more about the degree

Parents: You will have the opportunity to meet with the Musical Theatre Faculty for any questions you have about the program.

In order to be formally accepted into the BFA Musical Theatre program, prospective students must also be accepted by the University of Central Missouri for general admission.
