Strategic Initiatives Portfolio:
The Whiteman Advantage

With a strong spirit of collaboration, the University of Central Missouri and Whiteman Air Force Base have established a shared vision of community while improving opportunities for servicemen and women. Known as the Whiteman Advantage, this initiative has led to a number of programs, which will help active duty military personnel who want to advance in their careers, as well as those who are preparing to make a transition to civilian life.

This Strategic Initiative Portfolio is used by UCM leadership to measure progress on commitments made by UCM staff and faculty as part of the contract.

The Military and Veterans Success Center
Opening in October 2011, the Military and Veterans Success Center provides a one-stop resource center for active duty service members, veterans and military dependents by providing personalized assistance and support to guarantee student success.

Academic Courses in Aviation
New opportunities begun in October 2012 military personnel now have the opportunity to learn and grow their civilian credentials. This is possible through offerings provided by UCM’s Department of Aviation at WAFB.

Servant Leadership Lecture Series
Launched in January 2014, the Servant Leadership Lecture Series reflects the shared values of service and leadership between UCM and WAFB. One component of this series is the Ike Skelton Lecture, which features public leaders, including politicians, military figures, educators, business leaders and journalists.
