Behind the Scenes: Preparations for President Obama’s Visit to UCM

Description: UCM’s Lifelong Learning will host a panel of three University staff on January 30, at 2:30 p.m., in Union 237A, who helped prepare the way for President Obama’s visit. Preparations required for that visit were much more challenging than for any other visitor. Each panelist will explain the kinds of details that had to be met by their staff members for this visit. Kim Vansell, director of Public Safety, will address security and safety concerns. Beth Rutt, director of Campus Activities, will explain some of the strategic planning to accommodate student and other visitors to the event. Lastly, Chris Bamman, executive director of Facilities, will provide a unique perspective of how staff worked together to make the facilities as convenient and comfortable as possible.
