Call for Manuscripts

Information for Authors: The Journal of Content Area Reading is an international refereed professional journal that is published by the Content Area Reading Special Interest Group of the International Literacy Association. Articles published deal with literacy research and instruction in the content areas for preschool through high school and for college/university instruction.

Manuscript Style/Format: The content, organization, and style of manuscripts must conform to those in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Fifth Edition, 2001. Contributions must:

Review Process: Reviews will be conducted by the editorial advisory board and the editor in an impartial manner. Accepted manuscripts may require revisions for usage, style, and organization. Manuscripts must be original works which have not been published or submitted to another journal or publication.

Publication Format: From 2002-2010, the Journal of Content Area Reading has been published approximately once per year as a traditional print journal. In addition, beginning with Vol. 7, some issues of the Journal of Content Area Reading are displayed in EBSCO's Education Research Complete online database. Beginning with Vol. 9, 2011-2012, the journal was posted online, for a time, by the International Reading Association (now the ILA).


This site hosted and maintained, as a service to the Content Area Reading Special Interest Group, by the Literacy Faculty in the Department of Educational Foundations & Literacy at the University of Central Missouri.
