Research Areas: The teaching and learning of Mathematics, Statistical and Probabilistic learning
Dr. McGalliard earned a BS in Statistics and Mathematics in 1999 from Appalachian State University. He then received a MS in Statistics and Operations Research from North Carolina State University in 2002. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2012. Dr. McGalliard joined the faculty at University of Central Missouri in 2012 as an assistant professor and was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor in 2017. He is professionally active and currently serves as the Mathematics Education program coordinator, is the editor of Intersection Points which is the newsletter of the Research Council on Mathematics Learning, and is the treasurer of the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Before joining the UCM faculty Dr. McGalliard has been adjunct and full time faculty at Appalachian State University in the department of Mathematics and the department of Economics. He also was a full time high school mathematics teacher at West Caldwell High School in North Carolina.
