    The KC STEM Alliance is a collaborative network of educators, business partners and organizations that inspires interest in STEM careers in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area. Established in 2011 with a major grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and other local funders as an independent initiative of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Computing and Engineering, the KC STEM Alliance serves as a resource for local schools in implementing STEM initiative including US FIRST Robotics and Project Lead the Way pre-engineering and bio-medical sciences curriculum. Previous positions included Regional Director for Project Lead the Way-Kansas City initiative, Vice President of the Kansas Health Institute and Manager of Public Affairs for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Prior to moving to Kansas City, she worked at the National Conference of State Legislatures as Director of Economic and Cultural Development and on the legislative staff of former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm. Laura holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Stephens College and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.   [ more... ]

    Dodge has oversight of undergraduate and graduate degree program outcomes across a distributed campus-system, for blended and online delivery models. She serves as Brandman University's WASC Accreditation Liaison Officer, is a member of the WASC Substantive Change Committee, and is a graduate of the inaugural WASC Assessment Leadership Academy. She helped lead Brandman University's adoption of the Lumina Degree Qualifications Profile and is author of the White Paper posted on the WASC Website. Dodge is a member of a national competency-based education group focusing on policy and new learning models. Laurie has presented on assessment in higher education, meaning of the degree, Degree Qualifications Profile, and competency-based education.

    At UTEP, Ekal's duties include administering the eight departments in Undergraduate Studies, coordinating the university programming with El Paso Community College (EPCC), and participating in other campus programs and activities. The mission of the Office for Undergraduate Studies is to provide integrated, high-quality academic programs that foster and support student success for our students prior to entering UTEP through the entirety of their undergraduate education in order to encourage and enrich students' academic experiences and achievements. Included in OUS are the Academic Advising Center, Center for Civic Engagement, Developmental English, Developmental Math, Entering Student Program, Medical Professions Institute, Study Abroad Office, and the University Honors Program.     The Learn on Demand program at the Kentucky Community and Technical College System is a unique online competency-based education program featuring a rolling start and designed in a modular format. Prior to joining KCTCS, Ryan was the Vice President of Education for a regional home health company. He has also held the position of National Leader for Curriculum and Technology Solutions with Humana Inc., serving a global learning community focused on improving performance in the business ecosystem. He has been a VP for Technology/CIO at Lakeland Community College and has worked for Westinghouse and IBM in learning technology roles. Ryan holds a M.S. from Ithaca College focused on Instructional Design, and a Ph.D. in Computing Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University.
