Medical Billing and Coding Program - Class Starts Mar 4, 2019


This face-to-face course delivered at our Lee's Summit location covers the following areas: CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation and Management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory), ICD-10 (Introduction and Guidelines) and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements.  Students will learn how to find the service and codes using manuals, (CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS).  For more information see attached syllabus.  After obtaining the practical work experience (6months to 2 years), students who complete this course could be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)  - Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice); the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; and/or other National Certification Exams.

Customer Service Call Center - Class Starts Feb 25, 2019

The Customer Service Professional-Call Center prepares students for entry-level customer service positions across industries. Students will learn how to provide excellent service to customers and resolve issues for customers whether it is in person, using the telephone or on the Internet.

The coursework offers a foundation in computer skills typically used in customer service careers as well as develops the skills and techniques focused on meeting customer wants and needs in a call center environment.

Certified Medication Technician - Class Starts Feb 8, 2019

The Certified Medication Technician Development Program ensures that students develop the knowledge needed to advance their skills as Certified Nursing Assistants and qualify them for employment as Certified Medication Technicians and Insulin Administrators in
intermediate care or skilled nursing facilities. The program also includes Supervisory skills training. 

Must have six (6) months of employment as a certified nurse assistant who is listed on the Missouri State Nurse Assistant Register and who has a letter of recommendation. Program Topics include: medical terminology, drug classifications, infection control, types of insulin, technique of insulin administration, and methods of monitoring blood sugar levels.

Project Management Professional Development Program - Class Starts Feb 12, 2019

This project management program has been developed with you in mind! On-campus, evening delivery to support full/part-time working adults.<

Project Management Professional Development Program prepares students to learn project management fundamentals including key project management processes, values and benefits of standards and processes, the nine project management knowledge areas and the five key process groups. This course will also include simulation exercises covering building a project plan, time, quality, cost, communications and scope management. 

To support the fundamentals, project management methodologies, templates, tools, key terms, team and relationship building, roles and responsibilities will also be examined. Upon completion of this course you will be prepared to sit for the industry recognized credential exam for either the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) (if qualified).

Cost: $3,295.  Project Management is not considered as a specific field.  Project management skills are needed in a variety of areas to include information management, construction, and computer and information systems to name a few.  Review the O*Net Online page showing the top 20 occupations for project managers to determine salary and industry growth.

Object Oriented Software Development Using Java - Class starts Feb 25, 2019

This program teaches students how to code in one language (Java), but also teaches the principles behind programming languages and software development so students have the skills to learn new frameworks and languages more quickly on the job in the future.

Additionally, this program teaches students how enterprise technology teams are structured and highlights the role of a software developer. To further empower the student, the students use technology tools, software, tips and tricks that most organizations use today.

Students will participate in a holistic learning program that strengthens their ability to apply the related knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform at a high level in life and on-the-job.

Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant with Clinical Externship - Open Enrollment

 This certification program powered by Career Step will prepare students to perform general patient care and handle routine administrative responsibilities that frequently include: obtaining patient vital signs, administering oral and perenteral medications, performing wound care, assisting during procedures, and managing medical records to name a few .

 Contact Hours: 640. Clinical Externship hours: 130.  Cost: $3,999. Textbooks and supplies are provided as part of tuition.  In addition you will recieve an exam voucher upon graduation to take the certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).  U.S. Department of Labor estimates the demand for medical assistants to grow by 23% by 2024.  Median Pay ranges from $26,860 to $37,760 annually (Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Basic Certificate in Technical Writing - Open Enrollment

The Basic Technical Writing Certificate program powered by JER Online consists of three courses. The program is Instructor-Led, meaning you learn from highly qualified industry and tech writing faculty. Our course of study has been designed for individuals who lack sufficient experience in the field, those who want to enhance existing careers in technical writing or move in a new direction. The certificate is specifically designed for those who:

Private Lender List (Private Educational Loan Programs

Professional Education courses are non-credit and are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.  However, there are private (non-federal) lending organizations that offer loan funds to assist students.  To learn more about the products offered by our Preferred Lenders, please visit ELM Select (Educational Loan Management System).  You are not limited to the lenders listed.  The lenders that will do private loans for certificate seeking students are Salliemae, Wells Fargo, and PNC.  To access the preferred lenders list select undergraduate as your status.

  • Missouri Career Centers.  Are you a job seeker in need of employment services? Missouri workforce system staff are located in Job Centers around the state to help job seekers find quality jobs and employers find qualified workers.
  • Full Employment Council.  FEC is the Administrative Entity/Fiscal Agent for the Kansas City & Vicinity Workforce Development Board and the Eastern Jackson County Workforce Development Board
