The first year of college for students can be intimidating. That’s why UCM has created the UCM Experience kickoff, a program designed to help freshmen make an easy transition into their first year.

  • Begin building relationships with new students in your program

Exploring Majors

10 a.m.-Noon

This session will give faculty the opportunity to connect with new students in their academic college/department, help students explore ways to get involved in professional and social organizations in their area of interest, and boast about high impact learning experiences available at UCM.


Being a Responsible Learner

Saturday, August 11, 2018
9:00 a.m.

Teaching a Gen. Ed. class this fall? Here's your chance to explain the behaviors and habits that "dream" students display. Volunteer to present "Being a Responsible and Active Learner" on Saturday, August 11 from 9-10:15 a.m. You will work with a group of 25-50 first-year students to discuss the differences between high school and college, communicating with faculty, using the syllabus, and more. Training and suggested curriculum provided.
