PhD, Purdue University

Tricia Hansen-Horn joined UCM in 1999, leading it to PRSA certification (CEPR) in 2014. Dedicated to undergraduate and graduate pedagogy, as well as strategic thinking and theory, she is lead author of Public Relations, Cases and Theory (Peter Lang Publishers, 2018) and Strategic Planning: Beginning the Journey (Peter Lang Publishers, 2014). She is also the lead editor of Public Relations: From Theory to Practice (Allyn & Bacon, 2008, NCA PRide Award winner). A member of the 2016 Greater KC PR Team of the Year, Hansen-Horn serves as a CEPR, Public Relations Review, and International Academy of Business Disciplines PR Division reviewer. 

Hansen-Horn serves as the public relations program coordinator, with an emphasis on student progress to degree, internship placement, mentorship, and development. She led the 2010 launch of the the university’s award-winning student-led Innovative Public Relations agency, and still serves as its advisor. In addition, Hansen-Horn a member of the UCM graduate faculty and long-time instructor of the UCM PR capstone course.

Hansen-Horn earned her doctoral degree in Communication-Public Affairs and Issues Management from Purdue University, master's degree in Communication from the University of Central Missouri and bachelor's degrees in Organizational Communication and Comprehensive Speech from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
