The School of Accountancy within the University of Central Missouri's Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies is committed to providing you with a student-focused, applied accounting education that leads to your professional success.
Accountants are financial specialists at the heart of all areas of business. With a degree in Accountancy from the University of Central Missouri, you will be the professional who works with everyone – from individuals and small companies to large corporations, government agencies and non-profits.
No matter how the economy is doing, companies need accountants. There are more positions than accountants to fill them. This demand for accountants means you will enjoy a starting salary that is higher than other areas in business. This also means you will have numerous opportunities for internships and entry-level positions.
Our students are involved with organizations and activities that provide opportunities to develop leadership skills, gain valuable experience, and interact with students and professionals.
ASO offers great opportunities for you to get involved outside of the classroom. This organization orients students to the Accountancy major and profession. As an Accountancy major, you are automatically a member of ASO free of charge.
VITA is offered on campus each tax season. You will attend training sessions to become certified and then volunteer to prepare income tax returns for UCM students, staff and the general public. The hands-on experience you will gain is invaluable, as is the service provided to our many taxpayer participants.
We are fortunate to have many generous alumni and friends who are willing to invest in your future!
In addition to the School of Business Administration, our Accountancy programs are separately accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), so you know you’re earning a degree that counts in the real world.
