Gareth Young

Adjunct Professor 

Mr. Young teaches MS 2500 History of the U.S. Army

  • 25 years of Army service
  • Served in a variety of positions including military advisor, at special operations command, and Professor of Military Science.  
  • Mr. Young's education and training include:

Clemson University.  B.S. Engineering and Distinguished Military Graduate

Oklahoma City University.  M.S. Business Administration.

U.S. Army Command and General Staff College

Joint Forces Staff College

Military Service includes:

Domestic Duty Assignments: Mr. Young served in the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, NC; the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, OK; Special Operations Command – Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, VA, and the Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, KS.   

Overseas Duty Assignments:  Mr. Young completed combat tours in Iraq, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and Just Cause (Panama).  Other overseas experience includes 4 tours of duty in Korea, a tour of duty as a military advisor in Saudi Arabia, and deployments to Jordan and Egypt.  

Military Awards and Decorations:

Mr. Young’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, 2 Bronze Star Medals, 2 Defense Meritorious Service Medals, 6 Meritorious Service Medals, 2 Joint Service Commendation Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, a Joint Service Achievement Medal, 2 Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, 2 Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, 2 Southwest Asia Service Medals,  the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, 6 Overseas Service Ribbons, the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), and the bronze French Croix de Guerre (Desert Storm).  He is also a recipient of the Field Artillery Saint Barbara Medal and the Signal Corps Order of Mercury Medal.
