Off Campus Living Workshops

Know your rights and responsibilities as a renter and be ready for off-campus living.

Led by UCM staff as well as local landlords, property managers, and City of Warrensburg staff, the sessions cover real-life issues and scenarios that you'll encounter as a first-time renter.

Topics include:

  • Missouri's Landlord Tenant Law
  • Leases 101
  • Roommate Issues and Communication
  • Being a Good Tenant: What Landlords Want
  • Being a Good Tenant: What the City Wants
  • Budgeting (Freedom Isn't Free)
  • Pets are Awesome and...
  • Safe and Legal House Parties
  • How Renting and Home Ownership Relate

The Spring 2018 workshops are over; watch this page for the Fall 2018 dates, to be scheduled in August 2018.

Local Rental Properties and Companies

Before you sign your lease - or even afterwards - be sure to read our Good Neighbors Student Handbook. It's full of useful information to help you save money and avoid problems.

Our most important tip: Read your lease and be sure you understand it before you sign!  Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Property Management Companies
These businesses manage multiple properties of different kinds for several property owners.

Apartment Complexes

These are apartments in one or more buildings in the same area, all managed by one person.

Landlords/Rental Companies

These businesses are owned and operated by one or more owners; they may have multiple kinds of apartments or houses to rent.

This list of area property management companies, apartment complexes, and landlords/rental companies includes those who have participated in various initiatives with our office intended to strengthen relationships between the UCM campus and the surrounding community. This is not a comprehensive list of all landlords and property managers in the area. It is also not a list of recommended businesses. The University of Central Missouri is a state-funded entity, has no jurisdiction over private property managers, and does not recommend one property manager over another. Students are responsible for the choices they make regarding off-campus housing.

If you are a landlord or property management company and would like to have your information listed on this site, please contact Suzy Latare at 660-543-8947 or latare@ucmo.edu. Addition to and removal from the list is the sole discretion of UCM.
