UCM Hosts Annual Teach-in on Sustainability Feb. 10

WARRENSBURG, MO (Feb. 2, 2017) – The Office of Sustainability at the University of Central Missouri will host the 2017 Teach-in on Sustainability from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in Elliott Union 236-238.

The annual event brings to together speakers from varied professions to share their expertise during a day of education and discussion about how to develop and maintain a sustainable lifestyle. The event is free and open to the public.

Cathy Misko, Centerview, also known as “The Bee Lady,” will be the keynote speaker for the event. A beekeeper for 28 years, Misko is the Kansas City area’s immediate past president of the Midwestern Beekeepers Association. She implemented and chairs the MBA Youth Scholarship Program, MBA and State Beekeeper of the Year Awards, and recently founded the Heartland Beekeeping Partnership to bring advanced beekeeping workshops and national speakers to western Missouri. She has taught beekeeping workshops, public outreach presentations and advanced beekeeping classes.

In addition to her keynote address at noon, Misko also will present an informative session of beekeeping during the teach-in.
