Central Missouri Repertory Theatre Presents Children's Play

WARRENSBURG, MO (June 10. 2015) - The University of Central Missouri's Central Missouri Repertory Theatre opens its 30th seasons with the performance of the children's play Erin Elevator’s Extraordinary Adventure by Claudia I. Hass.

Erin Elevator’s Extraordinary Adventure will be on tour presenting free public performances at several sites in west-central Missouri. The show opens June 10 at Whitman Air Force Base Community Center, followed by performances June 11 at Camp Wonderland, Lake of the Ozarks; June 12 in Richmond. the Farris Theatre; June 17 in Carrollton, Mo. at Carrollton Elementary School; June 18 in Warrensburg at Grover Park; and June 19 in Marshall, Mo. at Indian Foothills Parks and Recreation.  All performances start at 10 a.m. and are free of charge.

This world-premiere children’s show, directed by Richard Herman, chair of the UCM Department of Theatre and Dance and professor of theatre, is a charming children’s story about a young boy seeking an extraordinary adventure. In this case, Erin sets out to rescue a baby dragon from the dangerous “Wild Island.”  Along the way, Erin realizes that he must use his wits, bravery, and cunning to outsmart numerous jungle animals including a gorilla, lion, crocodile, wild boars and a rhino!  This children’s play involves audience participation as the children help Erin in his quest to set free the dragon.

The company includes Connor Bosworth as Erin; Nellie Maple as Elegian, Turtle Gee, Tigerina and Lionhearted; Daniel Parman as Father Erin, Turtle Dee, Tigerata and Croc; Bryson Kenworthy as Sailor Sam, Boarus, Rhino and Gorillala; and Kacy Barta as Sailor Sab, Boarum, Tigerola and Monkeycam. Victoria Depew, assistant professor of theatre, serves as scenic designer, Rosie Swanson is costume and makeup designer, Elizabeth Pecher is scenic and properties construction and Nehemiah Campbell is stage manager and sound designer.
