Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (May 31, 2017) - The University of Central Missouri's Central Missouri Repertory Theatre will present the children's play Wiley and the Hairy Man by Suzan Zeder during the month of June.

Under the direction of UCM speech and theatre student Jordan Malone, Wiley and the Hairy Man will be on tour presenting free public performances at several sites in west-central Missouri. The free performances are planned for:

The location and time of a June 9 performance it to be announced.

Wiley and the Hairy Man is a spine-tingling tale of a boy and his worst fears in the swamp, which are eventually overcome by Wiley himself. Set in the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp, Wiley and the Hairy Man centers around a young, fatherless boy, his conjure-woman mother, his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts Wiley's days and dreams. Through rhythm and rhyme, a chorus creates the mystery of the swamp. The magic of this play is not fairy dust; it is soil--the magic of survival, the magic of the earth, and mud of the swamp. In an exciting duel of wits, Wiley learns to rely upon his own resources and conquers two villains: the Hairy Man and his own fear.

The company includes: Tristan Jordan as Wiley; Connor Bosworth as The Hairy Man; Adriana Luffman as Mammy; Adam Segura as the Dog; and a Chorus including Bailey Pelland, Jessica Arnold, Mattathias Davis, and Sarah Bronson.

Wiley and the Hairy Man is presented with the support of the Wetzel Family Foundation. This season marks the 35th anniversary of CMR bringing live children’s theatre productions to West-Central Missouri.
