The students competed in two teams in the undergraduate and graduate student divisions. The graduate team of Andrea Young, an MBA student from Hughesville, and Kelli Brennan, an MBA student from St. Louis, claimed the national championship in the graduate division. Competition consisted of three rounds, with one team member competing in round one, both competing as a team in round two, and the other team member competing in round three. Young took third place in round one, the team took first place in round two, and Brennan took first place in round three. This was the first year UCM competed at the graduate level.

Corey Vance, a senior marketing major from Cole Camp, and Tyler Herlinger, a senior marketing major from Overland Park, Kan., competed as the undergraduate team, with Herlinger reaching the quarterfinals in individual competition.

The students were accompanied to the competition by Cheryl Shattuck and Charlie Schwepker, faculty coaches from the Department of Economics, Marketing and Finance.

The annual National Collegiate Sales Competition draws marketing students from around the nation to compete in mock sales presentation judged by higher education faculty and industry professionals. UCM claimed the overall national championship in 2006. The competition attracts CEOs, sales managers and human resource directors from major corporations throughout the United States to serve as judges who evaluate 20-minute sales presentations prepared by individuals and student teams.
