WARRENSBURG, MO (April 25, 2008) – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt has named Ryan P. Sanders, O’Fallon, to the UCM Board of Governors as a student representative.
Sanders fills a seat that was held by Anthony Arton, Warrensburg, whose term has expired. He will serve through Dec. 31, 2009.
Providing a Student Voice on Campus Issues
As the newest member of the board, Sanders said he is eager to begin his new post. He wants to make certain UCM students have “an active voice on issues” addressed by the university’s governing body.
“Although this is not a voting position, my job is the make sure that the over seven members of the Board of Governors hear the expressions of the students, and to make sure that their concerns are taken into consideration before a vote is taken,” he said.
Aviation Major Serves as Student Ambassador
Sanders enrolled at UCM in August 2006 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in aviation technology with an emphasis in flight operations management. While juggling a full load of classes with part-time service as a student ambassador in the Office of Admissions, he has helped finance his education with the University Scholarship, Leadership Scholarship, and the Aviation Departmental Achievement Award.
