Contact: Mike Greife
WARRENSBURG, MO (Jan. 27, 2015) – Sustainability, technology, fracking and environmental awareness will be among the topics of discussion at the 2015 Teach-In on Sustainable Solutions, planned for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in the University of Central Missouri’s Elliott Student Union.

Sponsored by UCM’s Office of Sustainability, the annual Teach-In on Sustainable Solutions is designed to bring awareness of sustainability to UCM students and faculty and the Warrensburg community. Area professionals and representatives of organizations concerned with environmental sustainability will present 30-minute sessions on a variety of topics.

Keynote speaker for the event is Mary Lewis, supply chain professional for Sprint, who will talk about businesses “greening” their supply chains and corporate responsibility.

Among the topics to be discussed include use of solar energy for the home; sustainable use of glass in the home and marketplace; community involvement in sustainable solutions; sustainable choices in fashion; sustainable solutions in correctional facilities; recycling, composting and green purchasing as sustainable solutions; and the connection between sustainability and the foods we consume.

Representatives of the Warrensburg Citizens for Environmental Action also will present information about opportunities available in the local community for discovering and implementing sustainable solutions.
