National Student Employment Week

Celebrating the Contributions of Student Employees 

The UCM Career Services Center and Human Resources partner together to create events for a week-long celebration on the 2nd full week of April, to recognize the campus student employees.  This is an occasion devoted to our hard-working, dedicated students that serve the departments of the University of Central Missouri. 

2020 Student Employee of the Year

Crawford

1st Place - Jaclyn Crawford

Jaclyn works for the School of Computer Science & Mathematics. She received a $500 award sponsored by State Farm - Joe Good.

Hasty

2nd Place - Brooke Hasty

Brooke works for Accounts Payable. She received a $250 award sponsored by McConnell & Associates.

ratliff

3rd Place - Rebecca Schwartz

Rebecca works for the Success Advising Center. She received a $100 award sponsored by ReDiscover.

Monday

Student employees are encouraged to stop by the Career Services Center (Ward Edwards 1200) to enjoy a free coffee and bagel bar from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. 

Tuesday
Be on the outlook for a surprise in your UCM student email account.

Wednesday
The UCM Student Employee of the Year Reception is for all UCM student employees and their supervisors.  The reception is tentatively scheduled for April, 14th in Kitterman 237 A&B.  

Thursday
Student Employee Appreciation Day - Departments, express your gratitude to your student employees for their contributions to your office.

Recognizing Student Employee Contributions

Each year, the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) declares a full week in April to be National Student Employment Week.

The Career Services Center at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) is a member of NSEA.  Here at UCM, over 1,000 students are employed by the university, playing a key role in our educational and operational excellence.

Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. At the same time, they develop important skills and experience that will assist them in their future careers.

UCM Student Employee of the Year Nomination Process

The purpose of this award is to recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who work while attending college.

To be considered for this award, students must have been employed a minimum of three months full time or six months part-time. This may include students working off campus in community service or tutoring programs.

The UCM Student Employee of the Year Committee are comprised of faculty and staff across campus.

Timeline of Events for Supervisors

Regional Coordinators distribute announcement and application materials to their members and NSEA members in their region.

 

SEOTY nominations are due to the Career Services Center.

 

Notifications of campus winners are due to the Regional SEOTY Coordinators.

 

Regional SEOTY Coordinators submit the regional winners to the NSEA VP of Administrative Services.

 

National Student Employee of the Year is selected and winner's school is notified by the NSEA President.

 

National Student Employment Week observed. National SEOTY winner announced and runner-up finalists notified. National SEOTY award is presented at winner's campus.
