Through lifelong learning, create and achieve a culture where freedom of expression is uncompromisingly protected and civility is powerfully affirmed.

Goals

Build an environment where members accept, respect, and support one another

  • Market inclusion through articles, brown bag sessions, and community outreach
  • Review available data (entrance and exit) for trends and opportunities to improve environment

Create a culture of understanding through open minds and hearts

  • Work with Diversity GA on program development
  • Organize the Inclusivity conference/workshop
  • Educate and serve our students in a classroom environment of acceptance

Membership

In late spring or summer of each academic year the Chair of the President's Commission on Inclusivity seeks nominations and self nominations to fill upcoming openings on the Commission.  The majority of members serve a three year term and approximately one third of the Commission changes each year. The President appoints members and may re-appoint a member to serve additional terms.

Since 1973, the Office of Women in Higher Education (OWHE) of the American Council on Education has provided national leadership in the advancement of women into executive positions and campus presidencies.

The Higher Education Resource Services now offer three excellent institutes of leadership training for women:

  • HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute
  • HERS Institute at Wellesley College
  • HERS Institute at the University of Denver
