Who’s Who and Charno Awards Committee- Official Charge

 
I. FUNCTION


To select students for certain campus awards (e.g., Charno Award, Who's Who at Central)

II. POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Reports to the Vice Provost for Student Experience and Engagement

III. MEMBERSHIP

     A. Composition (8 members)

         1. One faculty member from each college and L/AE

         2. One student member

         3. Vice Provost for Student Experience and Engagement (ex-officio, non-voting)

     B. Selection

         1. *Faculty members from each college nominated by FS Committee on Committees and confirmed by Faculty Senate

         2. **Student member nominated by the Vice Provost of Student Experience and Engagement and confirmed by SGA.

         3. Vice Provost for Student Experience and Engagement (ex-officio, non-voting)

* In the rare instance where a faculty member is unable to serve, the faculty member may recruit a replacement from their college so as to ensure a representative from each college.

**The student member needs to be an individual who is not currently being considered for an award and will not be considered for Charno in future years so as to prevent that student from having an unfair advantage. The best student representatives are individuals who were considered and/or received Charno the year before.

 

     C. Selection of Chair

Vice Provost for Student Experience and Engagement shall chair this committee

     D. Term of Service

         1. Faculty members: two years

         2. Student member: one year

         3. Ex officio/non-voting - ongoing

IV. COMMENTS

1. Meeting Schedule: Committee meetings are held 3 or 4 times in late spring. Late afternoons, with one meeting until 9 p.m. Regular meetings are not scheduled during the summer.  

 

2. Additional Committee Member Qualifications: None.

 

3. Triennial Charge Update: The committee chair is responsible for completing a triennial charge review at the designated time and then submitting it to the Faculty Senate Committee on Committee’s representative. 

 

4. Procedures Manual: The committee chair is responsible for an annual report and updates to the Procedures Manual kept electronically in Academic Affairs.  

 

5.  Electronic Voting: The committee may conduct business and voting via electronic means.
