Why you should consider UCM:
You should consider UCM because we truly have something here for everyone. Whether it is our variety of degree programs to choose from, our competitive athletic teams, or one of our 200+ student organizations we have to offer, we have it all. Not to mention, our awesome faculty and stuff. I have never had the privilege of working with such wonderful people as I have at UCM. You can tell the faculty and staff at UCM genuinely care about the success of their students and will do anything in their power to help you get to where you want to be.
Why I came to Central Missouri:
I came to Central as a transfer student from State Fair Community College. I chose to transfer to UCM because I was looking for a school that was big enough to get involved with student organizations and attend sporting events, but also small enough that I wasn’t sitting in a class size of over 300 other students. UCM was the perfect blend of the two. With our average class size being 23, you have plenty of hands-on learning experiences with your professors, without the distractions of the larger class sizes. We have the amenities of the big universities, with the small town benefits, and for me, UCM was just right down the road from my hometown so it was a perfect fit!
My favorite place on campus:
I would have to say my favorite place on campus would be the Recreation and Wellness Center. The Rec has so much to offer! There are numerous rooms for aerobics, spinning, weight lifting, kickboxing, etc., also basketball courts, a walking track, the rock wall, they also offer fitness classes such as yoga and Zumba, and so much more! The Rec was just the perfect place for me to go hang out in between classes, whether it was to get a quick workout in or to grab a coffee and a bagel from Einstein’s.
I wish I would have known:
I wish I would have known how many student organizations and clubs there really were to join. As a transfer student, often times we are not traditional students, so it may be hard to get involved on campus. While I was a student, I didn’t realize how many organizations and activities there were on campus. Looking back, the only thing I wish I had done differently was to have been more involved.
