Volunteers Needed for the Children’s Literature Festival
Posted: 2/4/2013 - Staying in Warrensburg for Spring Break? Consider volunteering to assist visiting authors at the 45th Annual Children’s Literature Festival!
Thousands of Missouri schoolchildren attend this wonderful campus event each year to hear over 40 nationally recognized children’s authors and illustrators speak about their books. Whether you have assisted us in the past or are brand new to the festival, we welcome all to join us.
We are seeking volunteers to serve as a guest host to visiting children’s literature authors and illustrators. As a volunteer host, you will escort your author to their speaking room, help get children seated, track attendees, and assist in any other way desired by your author.
When you volunteer, you get to: Experience the university campus when it’s buzzing with visiting schoolchildren (who really know their books!). Meet and assist nationally recognized children’s authors and illustrators. Receive a signed certificate of appreciation. Enjoy a 20% discount on children’s books, and have your author autograph them. Have fun! We provide all volunteers with a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack.
The festival takes place on Monday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 19, 2013. We welcome volunteers that can assist on either day or both days. To learn more, see a full list of our visiting authors and illustrators, and to volunteer, visit http://guides.library.ucmo.edu/clf/
We need over 200 volunteers to make the festival a success, so all are welcome. Please invite a friend to join in the fun!
