Enroll in the University of Central Missouri's Medical Billing and Coding with Remote Worker certificate program and prepare for a rewarding and exciting career in the growing healthcare field. Students successfully completing the program will be ready to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC-A) certification exam from AAPC, which is recognized by employers across the nation. Medical billing and coding professionals are in high demand with the US Department of Labor projecting over 27,800 new jobs by 2029. Average annual salary for these professionals is approximately $42,630. Through this program, students earn an industry-recognized certificate and continuing education units which may not be applied to a degree program and are not eligible for federal financial aid.

Learn valuable skills that will prepare you for success
This certificate program is built to prepare you for employment, as well as success in the workplace, and is made up of three primary sections: Technical Skills, Personal Effectiveness Skills and Work Readiness Skills.
Technical skills
Students will learn valuable skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, manually file claims, complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. The course covers the following areas: CPT (introduction, guidelines, evaluation and management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory, ICD-10 (introduction and guidelines) and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third-party reimbursements. In addition, students will learn how to find the service codes using manuals (CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS).
Students successfully completing this course will be prepared to take a national certification exam from AAPC, the Certified Professional Coder (CPC-A) and the Remote Worker certification.
Personal effectiveness and work readiness skills
