Student organizations are excellent places to connect with others who share your interests and develop the soft skills employers want. This includes everything from work ethic to time management and communication to collaboration.
The networking and social opportunities provided by student organizations enhance and enrich your classroom experience. Learn what works and what doesn’t as you apply your classroom learning to real world situations as part of a diverse team. American String Teachers Association (ASTA)
The American String Teachers Association (ASTA) is a student group for all persons interested in the enrichment of lives through playing and teaching stringed instruments. You do not have to be a music or education major to join.

Central MO Math Educators
Central MO Math Educators is a student organization for future math educators or any education major interested in promoting mathematics in the classroom.

Early Childhood Young Professionals (ECYP)
The ECYP is a chapter of the Missouri Association for the Education of Young Children, which is a state affiliate for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This growing group of early childhood education majors aim to engage within the educational community to advocate for early childhood education and provide an opportunity for education majors to connect with peers on the college campus.
Mission statement: Our mission is to support education majors in their desire to learn more about the field of education through campus and community supports.
Statement of purpose and practice: This student-led organization is designed to unite education students and empower future educators through learning about and contributing to the field of education. This group believes in service learning and creating a community of education-focused students.

Kappa Delta Pi (KDP)
Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honors Society in Education. To be a member of the UCM Rho chapter students must have: 3.25 GPA, 21 completed hours, and be an education major.

Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)
Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)Student chapter affiliated with Music Teachers National Association - a nationally recognized organization for private music teachers and those interested in performance. In MTNA, we learn about becoming a well-educated, well-respected private music teacher. We have guest speakers from the community and beyond. We organize trips to the annual MTNA convention as well as other destinations with the purpose of educating ourselves and broadening our music teaching horizons.

Student Missouri State Teacher Association (SMSTA)
SMSTA is open to all UCM education Majors.

Active members receive a membership card, digital version of School & Community magazine, as well as several discounts at restaurants, hotels, car rental, and book stores. SMSTA also extends legal assistance and free Liability insurance for student teachers.

Student Organization of Library & Information Services (SOLIS)
SOLIS is the ALA Student Chapter for the University of Central Missouri's Library and Information Services program. The purpose of our ALA Student Chapter is to enhance the learning experience of students beyond the classroom, network with professionals within the field of school librarianship, to provide a local forum for the exchange of ideas and information about trends, issues, and opportunities in the profession and to develop skills and relationships that will enable students to have a creative impact on the profession.
