future teachers work on a challenge together

Future Teacher Academy

In the Fall we host Future Teacher Academy (FTA) to bring together high school and middle school students from multiple districts to gain insight and knowledge on the steps it takes to become a teacher. This one-day event features informative sessions designed and facilitated by the University of Central Missouri (UCM) faculty. Students stay together with their school group while they engage in challenges and round table discussions. The day finishes with a keynote speaker. This event is typically held in October; registration opens in August.

Rural Schools Summit

The UCM College of Education is committed to supporting the education of all students in the rural schools of Missouri. One of our priorities is supporting and aiding our rural partners  in their efforts to recruit and retain highly qualified teachers. We are committed to helping them improve the educational environment and supporting sound instructional practices. This event happens in both the Fall and Spring semesters to help districts connect with each other and inform UCM about challenges we can help them overcome.

Registration can be found on the Rural Schools Initiative page.
