The UCM Esports team launched in fall 2019. Esports is the fastest growing sport with a global audience reaching almost 500 million fans annually. The program is a member of National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) and will be led by head coach Steve Shattuck. Our teams will compete in Overwatch, League of Legends, and Rocket League in the inaugural year. For Fall 2020, new titles will be added as more scholarships become available. The University of Central Missouri Esports Team participates in the Overwatch Collegiate Championship every semester. The tournament, ran by TESPA, is the largest Collegiate Overwatch tournament in the U.S. To rev up for this tournament, the UCM Esports Team scrims against other universities weekly.
League of Legends
For Spring 2020, the University of Central Missouri’s Esports Team will add 12 scholarship positions to participate in multiple collegiate League of Legends tournaments.
For Spring 2020, the University of Central Missouri’s Esports Team will add 7 scholarship positions to participate in collegiate Rocket League tournaments.
