    Deputy Director, Domestic Policy Council, The White House

    James Kvaal is the deputy director of the Domestic Policy Council, which coordinates the domestic policy-making process in the White House. Prior to his current position, he was the policy director on the Obama for America 2012 campaign. In the first term of the Obama Administration, he worked as deputy undersecretary at the U.S. Department of Education and special assistant to the president for economic policy, where he worked on higher education and labor market policies including student financial aid, community college reform, and simplifying the student aid application.

    Before taking his current position, McDonnell was chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, a role he had since 2006. He was elected to the Kauffman board in 2003. In 2012, McDonnell retired from DST Systems, Inc., which he joined in March of 1969 and served as president and CEO from 1973 to 2012. McDonnell serves on the boards of Kansas City Southern and Euronet and has served on the boards of Garmin, Cerner, Corporate Sciences Corporation, BHA Group, Commerce Bancshares, and Blue Valley Ban Corp, among others.   [ more... ]

    Brian Green is an MIC student pursuing a Systems Engineering Technology degree from the University of Central Missouri. He runs cross country and track at Lee's Summit North High School and will graduate in May, 2014. He is also an intern at Cerner, Corp., where he is working on centralized logging. Brian plans to complete his associate degree in Applied Science from MCC in the fall of 2014.
