Bachelor of Science in Education

Students who plan to teach at the middle level have a program designed especially to prepare them for teaching students in the middle school environment. Middle School majors have one of the highest employment rates in teacher education among UCM graduates.

All Middle School majors will benefit from hands on, in the classroom, learning through a sequence of field experiences designed to foster professional and personal growth and development in pre-service teachers. All faculty are experienced middle level educators, providing students both theory and practical application. Graduates of our program are certified to teach in grades five through nine.

With a time tested, honored reputation for preparing some of the finest teachers in the classroom today, according to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), UCM's teacher education program prepares students to be competent, caring, reflective teachers committed to the premise that all can learn.

This program is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and has been nationally recognized by our specialized professional association: the Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE).
