Huffman’s Leadership Brings National Group to UCM for Summer Meeting

Contact: Jeff Murphy
WARRENSBURG, MO (July 25, 2016) –  Board members and Conference Planning Committee members of the National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education will be on campus Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 28-30 for the group’s annual summer planning meeting.  UCM will welcome about 20 members who are coming from across the country -- from as far as the states of California, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington, and even Canada to attend this event.

According to Monica Huffman, executive assistant to the president/assistant secretary to the Board of Governors, NAPAHE decided two years ago that the summer meetings would be hosted by the outgoing board chair's campus. She serves as NAPAHE’s past president this year, so UCM is the host campus.

“One of the reasons for having past presidents host the event is to allow the board committee members to see other campuses,” Huffman said. “UCM has such a beautiful campus, I'm happy that we are able show it off to colleagues across the nation.”

Huffman was first elected NAPAHE president in March 2015 and served until the following March, at which time she became past president. This is her fifth year serving on the association’s board. She also served as chair of 2014 NAPAHE Conference Planning Committee.

NAPAHE has a membership of approximately 650 presidential assistants with conference attendance from all over the U.S. and some traveling from in from as far as Canada, Commonwealth of the Bahamas, British Columbia, Island of Guam and even as far as Zimbabwe.
