“All Hands Be There” Solicits Feedback from UCM Military and Veteran Members

Contact: Jeff Murphy
WARRENSBURG, MO (Jan. 21, 2014) – Building upon a welcoming and supportive campus environment for the men and women in uniform who have served this nation, the University of Central Missouri is planning a special “All Hands Be There” event for military service members, veterans and military dependents attending UCM. All faculty and staff military veterans are also invited to attend.

The event is planned for 12:15 to 12:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in Elliott Student Union 240 in an effort to inform and validate UCM veteran support and commitment. “All Hands Be There” will provide an update and solicit feedback from a large portion of students who utilize the Military and Veterans Success Center, located on the lower level of the Elliott Student Union.

Charles Ambrose, UCM President, and university Distinguished Alumnus Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Arnold Gordon-Bray are collaborating to make this event possible. They look forward to hearing from students about UCM’s military and veteran service initiative. The event includes an opportunity to meet and hear from Gordon-Bray and university administration as well as network with UCM faculty and staff military veterans while enjoying light refreshments.

UCM’s strong commitment to individuals who serve in the military includes the establishment of the MVSC in 2011, the military tuition package that helps pay some college expenses not covered by military benefits, and the Whiteman Advantage program. Whiteman Advantage brings together personnel from Whiteman Air Force base and UCM to create a shared vision of support, and community engagement while improving opportunities for service men and women on campus.
