WARRENSBURG, MO (Aug. 30, 2017) – Serving students and faculty comes naturally to William “Bill” Runyan, who has worked as an advisor in both the College of Health, Science, and Technology and the College of Education at UCM for the past six years. He has been appointed director of the Office of Clinical Services and Certification in the College of Education.

Robert Lee, dean of the College of Education, announced Runyan’s appointment, which is effective Sept. 1. He succeeds Larry Reiter who has served as director for 12 years and will retire at the end of the month.

“We are grateful for Dr. Reiter’s years of service as director at UCM as well as his many years as a school teacher, administrator, and district superintendent. I know I speak for the entire university community as we wish him well on his retirement,” said Lee.

While at UCM, Runyan has served as advisory member to the COE Curriculum Committee, Teacher Education Council, Professional Education Faculty, and the University President’s Cabinet. He has also held leadership roles in the Professional Staff Council, Education Advisory Board Leadership Team, and the Academic Advising Council.

“Bill’s extensive knowledge, leadership, and experience providing guidance to students will be critical as we work toward breaking down silos and streamlining student support services” said Lee. “We want our students to have positive experiences as they explore schools for the first time or work toward their student teaching placement, and we want to ensure we are meeting our partner school districts’ needs too,” Lee added.

“I am excited at the opportunities and challenges this new position will afford me and I am especially looking forward to serving UCM's faculty, staff, and students and UCM's partner school districts in my new role,” said Runyan.

Prior to joining UCM, Runyan served the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant/Trainer Development Team, Master Instructor. Runyan’s college education includes a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in college student personnel administration from UCM. He is working on his doctoral dissertation from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
