UCM students Jason Ketz, left, and Alex Greenlee, right, will serve as co-anchors of KMOS-TV’s “Sportspage,” assisted by student sideline reporters.

Beginning with theThursday, Sept. 26edition of “Sportspage,” KMOS-TV and UCM athletics will once again partner with the UCM Department of Communication to provide hands-on opportunities for UCM students in sports broadcasting courses. “Sportspage” is broadcast weekly at 7 p.m. on Thursday and 4 p.m. on Saturday on KMOS-TV, channel 6.1.

Alex Greenlee, a graduate student in communications from Lee's Summit, and Jason Ketz, a junior sports management major from Kansas City, will serve as co-anchors, assisted by sideline reporters Briana Blocker, a junior digital media production major from St. Louis, and Sabra Hoeppner, a senior digital media production major from Cleveland, Mo. Katie Smith, video operations coordinator with UCM athletics, and Joe Moore, UCM's digital media production program coordinator, will serve as mentors for the students.  Mules and Jennies fans who enjoy the weekly review of UCM athletics will continue to see game highlights, interviews with the coaching staff and profiles of outstanding athletes.

Like an increasing number of courses offered across campus, “Sportspage” provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience while earning academic credit. While students have always gained experience on the program by operating the cameras, conducting athlete interviews and editing game highlights, the role of host was filled by Shawn Jones, UCM’s former senior associate athletic director for external operations, until December 2013. Bill Turnage, former UCM sports information director, preceded Jones as host, originating the role when the show debuted in the 1980s.
