WARRENSBURG, MO – An event designed to help foster better understanding, the University
of Central Missouri will host the student-led program, “Discover Islam and Muslims,”
from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, in Elliott Student Union, Room 240.
This is an opportunity for anyone who is interested to enjoy food while making connections
with UCM’s Muslim students, who will share information about their faith. During the
event, there will be eight different tables, each one hosted by two Muslim students
who will discuss different topics related to Islam. Those attending can learn more
about the five pillars of Islam, prophets, roles of Muslim women, and a whole lot
more. Posters at these tables will provide additional information to help make this
an educational and fun evening.
Those attending this free program have the opportunity to get to know UCM’s Muslim
students of different ethnicities while also sampling a variety of different foods
representative of their culture. All activities are free and open to the public.
The event is being sponsored by the Muslim Student Association, Saudi Students Club,
and the UCM Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity. Anyone who has questions
can contact the Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity at
660-543-8049.
