WARRENSBURG, MO – Emily Bergsieker, assistant director of student activities at the
University of Central Missouri, was named NACA Central Outstanding Advisor of the
Year at the National Association for Campus Activities Central regional conference
in Oklahoma City.
“I am honored that my students took the time to gather the materials to submit my
name for this nomination for recognition by NACA.” Bergsieker said. “I love making
a difference in the lives of these students and helping them grow during their college
careers.”
Bergsieker received the award for excellence in her work with as advisor of Spotlight,
the student programming board at UCM, and overseeing policy, procedures and registration
for more than 200 campus student organizations. She also advises the IMPACT student
involvement program and LEAD leadership development program and diversity education,
and she oversees the planning of Week of Welcome, Family Weekend, Homecoming and the
Freshman Experience Kickoff for incoming freshmen.
Bergsieker joined the UCM staff in 2002 in the Office of Admissions, later working
in the Office of Alumni Relations as events coordinator. She was named assistant director
of student activities in 2009.
In judged competition, UCM received graphic design awards for a poster for the Archery
Tag event, designed by University Relations student designer Kasi Yalon, and the digital
media commercial for the Drag Show sponsored by Spotlight. UCM also received the Program
of the Year Award for the 2016 Drag Show Transformation event and the Unmask Your
Opportunity Award for the Women’s Empowerment Fair.
A 1999 graduate of Lexington High School, Bergsieker is the daughter of Ronnie and
Tina Bergsieker of Lexington.
